Our Music Tradition

Music at St. Andrew's
St. Andrew's was affiliated to the School or English Church music on the 3rd May 1942. Today we use the BBC Songs of Praise Hymn book which is occasionally supplemented with A&M Revised. Music is important to us and we have a highly regarded musical tradition, with a good mixed choir comprising mainly adults. The choir has had many choristers earning Provost's, Dean's, Bishop's, St Nicholas and Gold awards A range of musical settings is used for the Eucharist and the choir sings an anthem during the administration of communion. Developing the choir by encouraging younger members to join is currently being progressed by the Director of Music. If you're interested in joining the choir please email us at info@standrews.coulsdon.net
The organ was built by Hill in 1904 for St. John’s Deptford and was brought to St. Andrew’s in 1949; it contains 1,271 pipes. It was extensively rebuilt in 2002, the £27,000 cost was funded by donations and fund-raising activities. |
