Sunday School

The Sunday School meets in the church hall from 9.45 am on most Sundays during term time. Three different groups cater for a wide variety of ages up to the end of primary school Year 6. The groups use materials and activities from Scripture Union as well as seasonal fun activities such as a Christmas Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Christingle Service etc. A team of 5 teachers, all of whom have a regular CRB Enhanced Check, plan and lead the sessions.

The first group, “Bubbles” - for children from the age of three to six (end of Year 1 in school). Parents are welcome to stay with their children as long as they wish to help them settle in.

The middle group, “Splash”- for children from the top end of infants school up to Year 4 (ages 6-8). Children in Bubbles and Splash come into church at the end of the service and come up for the blessing during the communion. They are invited to show their pictures and craft activities with the rest of the congregation.

The final group, “X-stream” - includes children who receive communion regularly (from age 8 after a preparation session) and/or are in Year 5 or above at school. They come into church for the Eucharistic Prayer. They are also encouraged to participate in the fuller life of the church by participating in Parade Services and singing in the informal ‘Generations’ music group.

Youth Group
Youth Group-meets in the Church Hall twice a month on Sunday evenings from 6—8pm. The aim of the group is to enjoy friendship and fellowship together and to know something of the love of God through a wide variety of activities. The group is open to any young people in Year 6 or older, including those with little or no church background. For more information contact 020 8660 0398 or email to info@standrews.coulsdon.net
Bereavement Support Group
Referrals come via the clergy, who take a leaflet. We follow up with a card and telephone call to offer support either by phone or by visiting - contact Joan.
Contact Group

This group of volunteers provides lifts to doctor and hospital appointments for those who are not able to drive. Volunteers help with shopping for people living in the parish who are housebound as well as visiting people regularly.

The group holds a monthly Pop-In Tea in the Church Hall (usually the second Tuesday of the month 2-4 pm). Tea and cakes are served around small tables and those attending enjoy good conversation and friendship. The Teas are open to anyone living in Coulsdon, and are especially appreciated by those living alone. Lifts can also be provided.

There is also the occasional outing, guest speaker or special event.

Several volunteers also dedicate themselves to supporting and befriending those who have been bereaved.

Volunteers are Enhanced CRB checked. They are affiliated with the Croydon Neighbourhood Care Association.

Mothers' Union
The Mother's Union is a world-wide organisation with a commitment to support family life through practical action and prayer. The parish branch exists to carry this out and is supportive of parish life. The Branch meets monthly, on the first Wednesday of each month, for a corporate Communion and also has an evening meeting with a speaker most months, usually on the third Tuesday of the month. Membership is open to men as well as women, married or unmarried.
Phoenix Club
The Phoenix Club is a Social Club for women and men whether Church members, or not, who worked or could not come to meetings during the day, to get together in a Christian environment. We have speakers on various topics from, wildlife, crime solving, gardening, Stately Homes, History, London and Country walks, Slide shows, etc. We have had demonstrations on Massage, Aromatherapy, Crystal therapy, Card making, Parchment Work, and Painting on silk. We also have speakers from various charities, such as Motor Neurone disease, Asthma, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Riding for the Disabled, RSPCA etc to which we give a donation. We also have outings, go to Theatres and Concerts, and have Quizzes and Games evenings. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 8p.m. in the Committee Room and the subscription is 12 per annum, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits. We are a small group and always pleased to welcome new members. If you are interested, please contact Peggy Brown on 020 8660 0846.
