Music at St. Andrew's

We use the BBC Songs of Praise Hymn book which is occasionally supplemented with A&M Revised.

A range of musical settings is used for the Eucharist. The choir sings an anthem during the administration of communion.

Music is important to us and we have a highly regarded musical tradition and good mixed choir comprising mainly adults.

Developing the choir by encouraging younger members to join is currently being progressed by the Director of Music.

The organ was built by Hill in 1904 for St. John’s Deptford and was brought to St. Andrew’s in 1949; it contains 1,271 pipes. It was extensively rebuilt in 2002, the £27,000 cost was funded by donations and fund-raising activities.

A CD is now available of specially recorded "Music for Christmas" - price now reduced to only £5.00

Excerpts from it may be listened to here (only use with a fast internet connection as the music files are quite large)
