Download the monthly magazine here – May 25 magazine
Welcome to our new style monthly magazine.  It contains all the usual articles and information (including Esther’s corny jokes!) but gives us room to add contact details, useful to us all but particularly for people who are new to our church family or visiting for the first time.
Sunday 4th May80th Anniversary of VE day celebrations on the Mount, with British Legion service at 12.30 pm followed by entertainment.
Tuesday 6th May ‘Parish Conversation’with Archdeacon Greg and Henry Metcalfe, PA to the Diocesan Secretary (in place of the regular inspection).
Sunday, May 11th Meeting of Parishioners and Annual Parochial Church Meeting  (APCM) from 11.10 am.

The APCM also includes elections to the Parochial Church Council (PCC). This year we have vacancies for 6 elected members (2 of these will be 2 year casual vacancies).  The PCC meets six times per year in the Committee Room. Ocasisonally there are extraordinary meetings. Our PCC secretary, Katie Burrows, sends out papers at least 7 days in advance so everyone has the opportunity to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them in good time!

What is the PCC? It takes the lead in carrying out the mission of the church: working alongside and supporting the clergy, pastoral care, telling the story of faith, social action and co-operation with churches of other denominations all fall within its remit. In many ways it is the PCC that shapes the health of the church. Please do consider if the Lord is calling you to take on this role. PCC members usually serve a three year term. They must be 16 years old or older, have been on the church electoral roll for the past 6 months and be an actual communicant (= they share in the bread and wine at Holy Communion).

We are also looking for a PCC treasurer. This person is not appointed by the APCM, but our current treasurer, John Linney, will be putting down this role at the APCM. We are all grateful to John for his nine years of faithful service as treasurer. John is happy to do all he can to help the new person settle into the role. Please do consider if this may be something you can take on. Please note that the finances of the parish are the responsibility of the whole PCC, not just the treasurer – so don’t worry about carrying this load on your own. If you would like to discuss
this futher, please speak to John, Esther or Gerry.

Sunday May 18th Cake and Preserve sale after church in the hall.
Tuesday 3rd June Archdeacon’s Visitation service to swear in Churchwardens, 8 pm St John’s Church, Upper Selsdon Road, Selsdon, CR2 8DD.
